10 weeks
Baby Meyers is the size of a kumquat! This past week has been really really hard on me, physically. I've thrown up more than I ever have in my life. On Sunday morning I stopped being able to drink water without throwing up. And Sunday afternoon I threw up my antibiotics and my prenatal. I couldn't eat, drink or take anything without vomiting. 24 hours later on Monday morning, I hadn't eaten or had anything to drink. I called my midwife and a nurse's hotline and both told me to go to the ER. So I went in by myself. I was put on an IV and given 2 Liters of fluids, 2 different nausea meds, and antibiotics. After 8 hours there that day, they sent me home with a nausea prescription. They told me if I could not still drink or eat anything in 24 hours to go back in. The doctors at that hospital were very gentle, considerate and listened. Unfortunately, our insurance switched overnight (we were waiting to be switched and it had gone through.) So the next day when it became 48 hours of not being able to drink or eat anything without throwing up (including nausea meds) I had to go to Kaiser by myself. I went in at 3 PM yesterday (Tuesday) and they immediately hooked me up to an IV. But they didn't listen to anything I said. The doctor treated me like I was just a wimpy pregnant lady who was a little thirsty and nauseous from the heat. They gave me 1 liter of fluid and had me pee in a cup. Then without warning, sent me home with a different nausea medication. So I went to Rite Aid to pick it up. "Sorry only Kaiser pharmacies take this insurance." So I go BACK to Kaiser and drive around and find the pharmacy. *Of course I'm still nauseous and exhausted at this point.* I get to the pharmacy and they say "Oh sorry you're not in the system." After two hours of talking my way through it (and only using pregnancy to guilt trip the pharmacist once) I finally got my nausea meds and insurance set up there.
Needless to say, it's been a long few days. Google has become my best friend. I'm sure first time mothers who don't have mothers to show them what's normal in a pregnancy can relate. Or really even any first time mother.... Just ten minutes ago, I googled "is it normal to throw up bright yellow when pregnant?" Google and my midwife said it's STOMACH BILE/ ACID.
Yuck.
Yuck.
Yuck.
So there's my week 10 so far. I was going to take a selfie in the ER of my baby bump in a hospital robe, but I was actually really sick and pretty much a preggo zombie. So, sorry. No cute baby bump selfie this week.
I was able to get some water down this morning, but just about 30 minutes ago I took my medicine for nausea and a drink of water and not to far after I was seeing it again in the kitchen sink. Ouchie and icky. It was weird because I was feeling fine and got up to go downstairs when all of a sudden I was so nauseous I was sweating and shaking. I barely made it to the trash can in time, and I moved to the sink for easier clean up.
Anyway. Enough barf story.
C R A V I N G S
Right now I'm really not craving anything. Eating has been such a horrible struggle this week. After my IVs each day I craved insane amounts of cheese. Seriously. And I had this nasty metallic taste in my mouth. Right now all I want is a Jamba Juice, but I'm debating because that has potential to be a very expensive throw up session...
